Cheers!

June 17th, 2008

Apologies for the lack of posts lately… Been very busy partying & now feeling under the weather. I think I’m getting too old for this lifestyle… lol

But the good thing about partying is that I get to take lots of party pics! So here’s Cheers to U & I promise to update soon!

Bachang (Wrapped Rice Dumplings)

June 2nd, 2008

On Sun, StrwB & I went back to SS2 to make Bachang with my grandma. Here’s a pic of the master at work. Fyi Bachang is also known as ZhongZi.

I always help my grandma make Bachang’s every year & because I am slightly particular with what is in my dumplings. So we always make 2 kinds… The regular kind… And my kind.

Here’s the variety of ingredients/ filling for the regular Bachang. Rice, FattyPork, Nuts, Beans, Salted Egg Yolk, Mushrooms & Fried Shallots.

Mine only includes lean meat (cant stand fatty meat), Beans, slices of Hard Boil Egg (cuz I don’t like salted egg yolk), Mushrooms & Fried Shallots. I don’t particularly fancy the nut either… Call me weird Tongue out

Here’s a pic of StrwB trying his hands at wrapping Bachang… Not too bad I must say! Hehe.

Here’s a pic StrwB took of me wrapping Bachang… Sigh how come take picture from that angle wan? Only can see my hair… lol

A bunch of Bachang which I wrapped & is ready to be cooked *Yummy Yummy*.

The Bachang is then boiled in a big pot for 2 hours+.

The Bachang all drained & ready to eat. All of us did a very good job today as none of the Bachangs came apart during the cooking process.

This is one of the Bachang which StrwB wrapped… keke. Most importantly is it didn’t come apart/ open up while cooking.

This is one of mine… Look quite professional rite? Cool

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co Restaurant

May 25th, 2008

StrwB & I went to Ikano on Sat morning to pick up some doggy treats for Mo from Pet Safari & furniture from Ikea. For brunch we decided to check out Bubba Gump Shrimp at The Curve. Here are friendly waiters standing at the entrance of the restaurant.

Situated next door to the restaurant is a gift shop filled with Bubba Gump merchandize for sale.

The Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurant & Market Menu with a picture of a friendly Shrimp.

Interesting metal plate signs (which are similar to car plates) placed on the table. Flip to the red color “Stop Forrest Stop” sign to let the restaurant staff know you want assistance/ service.

And the Blue “Run Forrest Run” sign to indicate that you do not want to be disturbed. Very creative indeed. However it does take a lil while before the wait staff actually notices… Hmm.

I also found a PingPong paddle which was chained to the table (to avoid ppl from stealing it?). Flipping through it you will find the dessert & drinks menu.

On each table you will also find a metal bucket filled with sauces & a roll of kitchen wipes & a stack of colourful plates beside it.

For drinks, I decided to order the Pomegranate Margarita. Yes, I am now drinking at noon… Has hell frozen over? lol. The drink itself was rather sourish in taste however balanced by the salt rimmed around the glass.

Each Margarita is served in a glass & their individual plastic shakers which can be purchased for RM12.90. We couldn’t resist & bought one… hehe.

StrwB decided to order a Sparkling Lemonade with Strawberries… How appropriate! lol. The lemonade has actual strawberries floating inside & was rather refreshing. No, StrwB didn’t just drink this, he had some of my margarita as well ;)

I decided to order the Shrimper’s Heaven, which includes four different servings of Shrimps, Coleslaw & Fries… The assorted shrimps include Coconut Shrimp, Cajun Fried Shrimp, Tempura Shrimps & Chilled Poached Shrimps. My favourite was the Coconut Shrimp!

Here are the Chilled Shrimps which are poached in its shells… Which actually tasted kinda bland on its own. But with a sprinkle of salt & pepper & dipped into one of the many sauces available was rather yummy as it was very fresh.

Here’s the dish StrwB decided to order, the Bourbon Street Baramundi. This dish includes two slices of Baramundi fish & about half a dozen (or slightly more) shelled shrimp. The fish & shrimp is marinated with Cajun spices and grilled & it is served with mashed red potatoes and a creamy sauce.

The creamy sauce was really yummy (some ppl may find it a tad bit salty tho) & the fish was especially fresh too, those who know me know how particular I am with fish.

Including a Margarita Shaker, our bill came up to RM140++, which really isn’t cheap. But overall it was a great experience… I don’t usually drink in the day time & the seafood was fresh & tasty. A great place for friends to meet up, sample the many different varieties of Shrimp & have drinks.

Tao Kae Noi

May 21st, 2008

I was just recently introduced to Tao Kae Noi Japanese Crispy Seaweed & I’m absolutely hooked! This shit is freakin addictive!

Retailing at RM5.90 per pack & sold at Watsons Personal Care Store… It is definitely the healthier alternative to crisps/ savory snacks.

Tao Kae Noi Japanese Crispy Seaweed comes in 5 different flavours…

Here’s one of my favourite flavours; Original which is lightly salted on one side which enhances the wonderful flavour of Nori Seaweed.

If you like things on the slightly spicy side… Then the Hot & Spicy Flavoured Japanese Crispy Seaweed is for you. Seasoned on one side with Salt, Pepper & Chilli. Another one of my favourite flavours.

I guess because Tao Kae Noi Japanese Crispy Seaweed is produced in Thailand (instead of Japan) it is only compulsory that it comes in Tom Yum Goong flavour. Seasoned with Tom Yum flavouring, the crispy seaweed is quite sour, salty & spicy… A lil overwhelming for my personal taste. I guess Seaweed & Tom Yum is just too odd a combination for me.

Tao Kae Noi Japanese Crispy Seaweed also comes in Wasabi & Seafood Flavour which I haven’t been able to get my hands on. Will update when I do ;)

XLive Music Festival 08 (Part 2)

May 20th, 2008

Downstairs at the Theme Park… The boys goofing around *To the left… To the left*

DJ Gregoire Pagnoux @ The XL-Tronic stage. Awesome graphics!

Everyone having a good time at the party… Mr&Mrs Fitness, Soldier&Kimmy, StrwB,Mark&Jo and Ketamz&MrsFitness.

DJ Marcus Schossow on the decks…

At the front of the stage… StrwB, moi & Jo.

I managed to bump into a couple of friends… Here’s DJ Bunga, Luq, Nigel and YuMeng & Alex.

A psychedelic shot…

A cool pic I manage to stap at the XLCTRC stage… This stage was quite hidden away & difficult to find but was playing awesome breaks!

I noticed a Giant Smiling Energizer Battery Man Laughing

In the Arena of Stars/ main stage… While waiting for Missy Elliot, I took this glamour shot of StrwB.

I bumped into DJ RaySoo Cool. Another pic of Soldier&Kimmy. Ketamz & Jo are obviously bored of waiting & decided to entertain themselves… And also met up with Erma&Botak.

Glamour shot of moi… Still waiting for Missy Elliot… It’s been over an hour!

Finally… Missy Elliot takes on the stage with her very talented group of dancers.

It was disappointing that she only sang about 5 songs in total & was just talking & walking about most of the time. However I do give her credit for trying to personally reach out to the crowd.

My main reason for attending this event was to check out DJ Yoji Biomehanika, which I missed the last time he spinned at KL Tower.

To my own & everyone else’s surprise… I totally digged his music! It is hard yes… however not mundane nor noisy & was very melodious.

Here’s Yoji’s “signature” standing on top of the decks. He is freaking awesome! I <3!

My camera battery died during Yoji’s set… Glurps So I didn’t manage to take anymore pictures…

However I did manage to steal this pic from Charmane/ Enzo’s camera of us having brunch the next day at a Chinese Restaurant located at GohTong Jaya before heading back to KL. The food was extremely yummy!

Perhaps it was the cool weather, perhaps it was the company, perhaps it was the awesome line up… But this definitely has been one of the most awesome parties I’ve ever attended Wink
